After the ‘war’ between Zelensky and Trump, Russia and America came closer, made a big announcement, a big blow to Ukraine

Amid tensions between Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky, the governments of Russia and the US have made a big announcement. Moscow and Washington have agreed on joint measures aimed at ensuring uninterrupted financing of diplomatic missions in both countries. The Russian Foreign Ministry gave this information. Since Donald Trump came to power, Russia-US relations have seen rapid improvement. Trump has also adopted a cooperative stance with Moscow on the issue of the Ukraine war. Russian and US delegations held talks in Istanbul, Turkey on Thursday.
According to news agency Xinhua, the closed-door meeting of the US Consulate General lasted more than six hours. The ministry said on Friday that the two sides discussed ways to overcome ‘numerous obstacles’ in bilateral relations. “It was agreed to take joint steps to ensure uninterrupted financing of the activities of diplomatic missions of Russia and the United States on a reciprocal basis, to create appropriate conditions for diplomats to discharge their official duties,” the statement said.
Russia and America agree on the return of diplomats
The Russian delegation was led by Alexander Darchiev, Director of the North Atlantic Department. The US delegation was led by Sonata Coulter, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, who oversees Russia and Central Europe policy. The Russian Foreign Ministry said, “As per the instructions of the foreign ministers, ways to overcome many ‘troubles’ inherited from the previous US administration were discussed in detail.” The ministry also said that Russia raised the issue of its diplomatic property in the US, in particular six real estate properties, which were ‘illegally seized’ between 2016 and 2018.
Over the past decade, Russia and the US have repeatedly expelled each other’s diplomats, significantly reducing the number of staff in their embassies. Apart from this, Russia proposed that the US consider restoring direct flights, which would help improve bilateral relations in the interests of both countries. At the end of the statement, it was said that Moscow and Washington have agreed to continue their diplomatic contacts.
