Uttarakhand: 50 rescued, 4 dead, 5 still trapped, rescue operation of workers continues in Mana

On Friday morning, such a snowstorm hit near Mana village in Chamoli, Uttarakhand that 55 workers engaged in road construction work were caught in it. So far 50 of the workers buried under the snow have been pulled out. 4 of them have died. At the same time, the search for 5 trapped laborers is still going on. At the same time, according to sources, 14 other people have also been rescued on Saturday morning, out of which one is in critical condition. Relief and rescue work is going on continuously in the area. Rescue operation is going on since 7.30 am on Saturday to search for the missing laborers. PM Modi has assured to provide all possible help in this rescue operation. PM Modi also spoke to CM Dhami and also took information about the ongoing rescue operation. ITBP Commandant Vijay Kumar said that out of the laborers who have been rescued, 2 to 3 laborers have suffered fractures and head injuries. They have been admitted. The IG is monitoring the entire operation. The remaining laborers will be found soon. DIG is working on the ground, so good news is expected by evening. All the rescued workers are admitted in Joshimath Hospital.
More than 200 soldiers engaged in rescue
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami told in a press conference that 55 workers were trapped in the snow, out of which 50 people have been evacuated. Efforts are on to rescue 5 workers. There has been a lot of snowfall. Instructions have been given to establish the network as soon as possible. More than 200 soldiers are engaged in the rescue operation. Army, ITBP, Air Force, BRO, SDRF, Fire Service and others are involved in the rescue operation. CM said that BRO workers were in 8 steel containers. 5 containers have been safely evacuated.
The labourers who were pulled out from under the snow on Friday night were taken to the army camp near Mana village, out of which 3 were in critical condition, they have been admitted to Army Hospital Jyotirmath for treatment. Army and ITBP personnel are continuously engaged in the search for the remaining labourers buried in the snow. The Uttarakhand government is constantly monitoring the situation. PM Modi has also assured all possible help.
Let us tell you that due to heavy snowfall on Friday, there was a lot of hindrance in the rescue operation. SDRF teams were sent from Joshimath via air to pull out the labourers from the snow. The rescue team faced difficulties in reaching there due to snow on the road 30 km from the incident site. State Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman admitted that the rescue work is challenging, as there is about seven feet of snow near the avalanche site. However, he said that more than 65 employees are engaged in the rescue operation.

Chamoli Police has released a list of names of 55 workers stranded in Mana. So far 50 workers have been rescued. According to the list released by Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority, the stranded workers are from many states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami is constantly monitoring the rescue operation going on since the avalanche incident in Mana. He is in constant touch with the officials present there from his residence. Today he went to Badrinath and inquired about the condition of the workers. Along with this, he also took stock of the search operation being conducted by ITBP and Army.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had also reviewed the rescue operations by reaching the State Disaster Operations Center late on Friday night. He had instructed to involve the helicopters of the Air Force as well as the state government agency ‘YUKADA’ and helicopters of private companies in the rescue operations from Saturday morning. He said that we will do whatever is possible for the safe return of every worker.
