Uttarakhand: Chamoli Mana Avalanche Rescue Operation, victims narrated their painful ordeal

Today is the third day of the Chamoli Mana avalanche incident. So far, 53 out of 54 workers buried in the avalanche have been rescued. Out of 53 workers, 7 workers have died. Rescue operation is still going on for the remaining worker. Teams of Army, ITBP, NDRF and SDRF are engaged in their search. 46 workers have been admitted to the hospital for treatment, out of which one worker has been sent to AIIMS Rishikesh due to his critical condition. Meanwhile, patients admitted to Joshimath Army Hospital told their painful story of the accident.

The worker from Uttarkashi said that he thanks the Chief Minister, who showed promptness for the rescue. Also, the worker thanked the Indian Army, ITBP, Police, SDRF and Chamoli administration for their successful rescue.

Vijaypal, a laborer from Uttar Pradesh, said that the first glacier came around 8:30 in the morning, after which we realized that the glacier could come again, but when the second glacier came, we could not know and we all got trapped in the glacier.

At the same time, a laborer from Pithoragarh Berinag said that the glacier breaking could not be detected. Due to which this incident happened. He told that this incident happened when we were sleeping. Our container fell 50 to 60 meters down due to the glacier.

At 4 am on February 28, 54 laborers working under the contractor of Border Roads Organization (BRO) were buried in the debris. Out of which 53 laborers have been taken out so far. Out of 53 laborers, 7 laborers have died. On the second day of the rescue operation, 27 out of 50 rescued laborers were taken to Joshimath.

District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari said that in the rescue operation, the injured were brought to Jyotirmath with the help of 7 army and 1 private helicopter. Late night doctors confirmed the death of four workers. These include Jitendra Singh and Mohinder Pal from Himachal, Manjeet Yadav from Uttar Pradesh, and Alok Yadav from Uttarakhand. He said that the death toll in the incident has reached 7. Today the bodies of 3 workers have been recovered. So far 53 out of 54 workers have been rescued and one is still missing.
