Uttarakhand: Vikasnagar police arrested 4 vehicle thieves from UP and Himachal, recovered 22 stolen bikes

Dehradun’s Vikasnagar police has arrested four vehicle thieves in two separate cases and recovered 22 two-wheelers. All four vehicle thieves used to commit bike thefts in Dehradun district and Himachal and then sell the bikes or their parts in Saharanpur, UP. Police arrested all four and sent them to jail after presenting them in the court.

According to the police, Selaqui police station police arrested Ghanshyam and Divit Kumar, residents of Uttar Pradesh, from Selaqui area, who were involved in the vehicle theft incident. 11 stolen two-wheelers stolen from different places in Dehradun were recovered from their possession. Complaints have been lodged in Selaqui, Rajpur, Sahaspur and Doiwala police stations regarding the recovered vehicles.

According to the police, during interrogation, accused Ghanshyam told that he works as a confectioner. But currently, due to lack of work, his financial condition was going bad. Divit also came to Dehradun in search of work. But due to lack of work, his financial condition was also going bad.

Both of them planned to steal vehicles from different areas of Dehradun and sell them in Saharanpur. The accused used to hide the stolen vehicles in an empty plot at a deserted place in Bayakhala. Both of them were planning to take all the stolen vehicles to Saharanpur in a big vehicle.

Selaqui police station in-charge Shanky Kumar said that the arrested accused have been identified as Ghanshyam resident Amroha Uttar Pradesh, currently resident of Rispana Nagar Nehru Colony and Divit Kumar district Saharanpur Uttar Pradesh, currently resident of Krishna Nagar Nehru Colony.

In another incident, during checking by Vikasnagar police, two accused Gangeshwar alias Rishu Majra Sirmaur Himachal Pradesh and Surjeet alias Pompi Majra district Sirmaur Himachal Pradesh were detained from Dhalipur bridge on the basis of suspicion with a bike without number.

On interrogation, both of them told that they have stolen many bikes from Vikasnagar and other areas and have hidden the vehicles in the forests on the banks of Kulhal Yamuna river. When the police recovered the stolen vehicles and investigated, it was found that the theft of 3 vehicles was registered in Vikasnagar police station. While the theft of other vehicles was registered in Sahaspur police station and in police stations of different districts of Himachal.

During police interrogation, the accused vehicle thieves told that both of them are drug addicts and commit bike thefts to fulfill their drug addiction. They sell stolen bikes to customers at cheap rates or sell the bike parts to scrap dealers. Due to which they earn good profit. During interrogation, it was confirmed that accused Gangeshwar alias Rishu has also gone to jail in a vehicle theft case from Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh.

Smack smuggler arrested: On the other hand, the Pulbhatta police station of Udham Singh Nagar arrested a smack smuggler. Smack worth Rs 13 lakh was recovered from the accused. A case has been registered against the accused under NDPS Act earlier also. The accused was going to supply smack in the district by bringing a consignment of smack from UP. The accused has been produced in the court and sent to jail.
