Temperature will fall again; Meteorological Department has predicted rain and snowfall in the mountainous regions of Uttarakhand

Relief has been felt in Uttarakhand due to sunshine from the mountains to the plains. Difficulties have also reduced in most areas. Movement is smooth on most of the main routes including the Gangotri Highway. However, the Tawaghat-Lipulekh road connecting the China border is still blocked.

The Meteorological Department has predicted a change in the mood of the weather in the mountainous regions on Monday. Light to moderate rainfall may occur with partial cloud cover in the high altitude areas. Whereas, there is a possibility of lightning along with thunderstorms at some places.

On Sunday, bright sunshine was visible in most areas including Doon since morning. However, light winds also continued to blow at some places after noon. Due to which chill was felt in the evening. However, the mercury has started rising again in the plains. Shivering has been going on since the heavy snowfall in the mountainous areas in the past few days and the mercury is much below normal. Difficulties in the mountains have also started reducing now.

The Gangotri highway which was closed due to snowfall has been opened for vehicular movement on Sunday. Snow has been removed from the highway till Bhaironghati. However, due to slippery conditions, only vehicles with four-by-four non-skid chains are allowed to travel on the highway from Dharali to Bhaironghati.
