Uttarakhand: Women will now be able to travel for free, pilot project will be launched on Women’s Day

To empower the women of the state, the government’s ambitious Mahila Sarathi Yojana will be launched on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Minister Rekha Arya will be the first passenger of Mahila Sarathi. For the first week, drivers will provide free rides to women for public awareness.

Rekha Arya said that in this scheme, priority will be given to women who are financially weak, widows or deserted. The Transport Department is training women in driving and their driving licenses are being made. Minister Rekha Arya said that as a pilot project, this scheme is being started with 10 e-scooties, 2 e-auto rickshaws and 2 e-taxi cars.

Demo of vehicles will be held in IRDT auditorium

The minister will start the scheme from the camp office located in Yamuna Colony and will herself reach IRDT Hall Survey Chowk with these vehicles. After this, a demo of all the vehicles will be given in the IRDT auditorium. The vehicles for the pilot project have been arranged from the CSR fund of an organization

The project will be expanded after seeing the results

The minister said that after seeing the results of the pilot project for the first six months, it will be expanded to other cities of the state. A completely professional mobile app has been created for operating these vehicles. The user interface in it is almost the same as in the apps of commercial companies that book vehicles online these days.

Police and transport department are also involved in the project

Police and transport department are also involved The minister said that many features have been included in the vehicles in view of the safety of women drivers. GPS tracking of these vehicles will be done regularly so that in case of any security related problem, the female driver or passenger can get immediate help. Police and transport departments are also involved in the scheme. For the project, women have already been given driving training in Dehradun.
