Vasantotsav begins at Uttarakhand Raj Bhavan, inaugurated by the Governor, flower fest will run for three days
Vasantotsav 2025 has started in Uttarakhand Raj Bhavan. The doors of Uttarakhand Raj Bhavan have been opened for the general public for the next three days. In Raj Bhavan, you will get a different glimpse of the floral color as well as the natural beauty of Uttarakhand.
Vasantotsav has started in Uttarakhand Raj Bhavan premises from Friday, March 7, 2025. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh inaugurated the Vasantotsav. Raj Bhavan will now be decorated with colorful flowers for three days. On the first day, from 1 pm to 6:00 pm, you can see beautiful flowers in Raj Bhavan. After this, on March 8 and 9, from 9 am to 6 pm, children, elderly and women can see colorful flowers. Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh inaugurated Uttarakhand Basant Mahotsav 2025. Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi was also present on this occasion.
On this occasion, like every time, hundreds of organizations related to floriculture have set up their stalls in the Uttarakhand Raj Bhavan campus. Ratan Kumar, Joint Director of Horticulture Department, said that the main objective of this Vasantotsav is to promote floriculture and horticulture in the state. This time stalls of 26 state departments have been set up in Vasantotsav. Apart from this, more than 188 private organizations working in the field of agriculture, horticulture and floriculture have participated in Basant Utsav 2025 and have set up stalls in the Raj Bhavan campus.
Among the organizations setting up stalls in Raj Bhavan, self-help groups, farmer producer organizations (FPO), private companies, social organizations as well as such companies have also been given a chance. They do processing work in products related to horticulture, agriculture and floriculture.
Opportunity to women in Cultflower Competition
Ratan Kumar Singh, Joint Director of Uttarakhand Horticulture Department, said that every year on the occasion of Basantotsav, Cultflower Competition and Exhibition are also organized in the Raj Bhavan campus. He gave information about the competitions. He told that this time women are being given a separate opportunity in the Cult Flower Competition. This time a separate exhibition and competition is being organized for women producers during Basant Utsav in the Raj Bhavan campus. The competition held on this occasion is mainly in two traditional and non-traditional categories. Those districts are included in traditional which are quite developed. Floriculture is being worked on here for a long time. All the hill districts are included in non-traditional.
Competition in 14 categories
Cult Flower Competition is organized in 14 categories. This time non-traditional competitions are being organized in eight out of 14 categories. This time Lily flower has also been included in the competition. Apart from this, competitions are also being organized by the department for Divyang flower producers since last year. In these competitions, apart from hanging pots and bonsai, different types of competitions are organized under cut flower competition.
