Uttarakhand / Dehradun: Murder case of an elderly man retired from mining department, uncle and nephew arrested

Police has solved the murder case of an old man retired from the mining department. Police has arrested the accused uncle and nephew and sent them behind bars. Police has recovered Rs 4 lakh 80 thousand withdrawn from the account of the deceased from the possession of the accused.

On March 6, Sanjay Kumar, son of Mangal Singh, resident of Uttar Pradesh, had given a complaint to the police regarding the case. In which he had told that his uncle Jagdish used to live on rent in Nathuwala. On February 1, his uncle’s mobile was switched off. In this regard, he took information from the landlord. On which he told that he has not returned home for 2-3 days. On the basis of the complaint, the police started investigating the case.

The police started investigating the case and questioned the people around in this regard. In which it was found that Jagdish had retired from a government job in the mining department in Dehradun. The mobile number and bank accounts of the missing person were checked. On investigation, it was found that transactions were being made continuously from the PNB bank account of the missing person to another bank account through UPI. On enquiring about the said accounts, it came to light that the said account was in the name of a person named Mohit. The police came to know that the account was opened some time ago.

The formed team detained the suspected account holder Mohit Tyagi for questioning. During interrogation, the accused told that he along with his partner murdered the missing old man Jagdish and threw the body in the canal of Deoband. After which the police arrested both the accused. During interrogation, the accused told that he works as an e-rickshaw driver in Gujronwali area from Raipur.

The accused met Jagdish four years ago at Gujronwali Chowk, who was originally from Raebareli Uttar Pradesh. The deceased Jagdish often used to sit at Gujronwala Chowk all day. The accused used to wait for a ride there. Due to frequent meetings, both of them got to know each other well. The old man used to share all his things with the accused. During this, the accused came to know that the old man was unmarried and there was no one behind him. The old man took advantage of the situation and along with his maternal uncle killed the old man.
