Emphasis on developing 50 tourism destinations
If the crowd of tourists and devotees increases at these tourist places in the coming time, then such arrangements can be completed there on time. In the budget of the upcoming financial year 2025-26, provision has been made to develop 50 tourism destinations. Hotels at these tourism destinations will be given the status of infrastructure. This will not only increase the facilities for the tourists but will also promote local employment.
Number of tourists coming to Uttarakhand
According to the information received from the Uttarakhand Tourism Department, 3.68 crore tourists came to Uttarakhand in the year 2018, while in 2023 the number of tourists reached 5.96 crores. That is, compared to 2018, in 2023 there was an increase of 61.79 percent in just 5 years. At the same time, if we talk about the figures of the year 2024, till the month of August, more than 3 crore tourists have come to Uttarakhand. A big jump has been seen in tourism after the Corona period.
89 percent foreign tourists came to Devbhoomi
According to the tourism department, the number of foreign tourists has also increased by 89 percent in three years. Tourism is important for the state of Uttarakhand because tourism contributes about 4.4 percent to the state’s gross domestic product. It also provides employment to about 2 to 3 percent of the state’s population.
The government is expanding roads, railway lines, airways
The government is constantly making efforts to promote tourism in Uttarakhand. The government is engaged in expanding roads, railway lines, airways. In this episode, the work of taking all-weather roads and trains to the mountains is also going on at a fast pace, because the ever-increasing number of tourists has also increased the load on many state roads.
