Uttarakhand / Rishikesh: Ruckus over budget in Municipal Corporation board meeting, BJP councillors raised slogans against Municipal Commissioner

There was a lot of uproar in the first board meeting of Rishikesh Municipal Corporation of Uttarakhand. The reason for the uproar was to make the budget agenda available in the meeting itself. Due to the uproar, the discussion in the board meeting could not start till 1 pm instead of 11 am. Apart from this, the board meeting was also postponed for 15 minutes due to the uproar.
At the same time, Rishikesh Municipal Corporation Mayor Shambhu Paswan assured to make the budget agenda available 7 days in advance in the upcoming board meeting. After which the board meeting was postponed for 15 minutes. After the meeting was postponed, 14 councilors came out of the meeting and discussed among themselves. They accused of suppressing the tax files. 14 councilors expressed confidence in the mayor’s assurance and they came to attend the meeting later.
After this, discussion on the process of passing the budget and further action was started in the board meeting. Currently, the board meeting is going on. In which the development work to be done in the municipal corporation area and increasing the income of the corporation are being discussed. Currently, the process of passing the estimated budget of 71.5 crores is going on in the board meeting.
BJP members raised slogans against the Municipal Commissioner
During this, the husbands and workers of BJP councilors raised slogans against the Municipal Commissioner. Not only this, they also raised slogans of Rishikesh Bachao. Due to which the matter got heated. Currently, the board meeting is going on. 38 out of 40 councilors are present in the municipal corporation meeting. One woman councilor did not come to the meeting. At the same time, one councilor is in jail in a case of assault.
BJP mayor and 18 councilors have won in the municipal corporation
18 councilors of BJP won in the Rishikesh Municipal Corporation elections. Congress councilors won in 6 wards. 16 independent candidates also reached the Municipal Corporation by winning the councilor elections. BJP’s mayor candidate Shambhu Paswan won by 3100 votes. Paswan defeated his rival independent candidate Master Dinesh Chand. Congress candidate Deepak Jatav got third place.
