‘India always stands with you… I have brought the water of Maha Kumbh’, what else did PM Modi say in Mauritius

This is a respect for the historical relations between India and Mauritius. PM said that when I come to Mauritius, it feels like I have come among my own people. There is a feeling of belongingness in the air, soil and water here.

Mauritius is like family

India has always stood with Mauritius in times of crisis. During Covid-19, India was the first country to deliver one lakh vaccines and essential medicines. PM said that Mauritius is like a family to us.

Mauritius at the center of Vision Sagar

PM said that Mauritius is not just a partner country. Mauritius is a family for us. This relationship has become deep and strong in history, heritage and human spirit. Mauritius is a bridge connecting India to the wider global south. A decade ago in 2015, during my first term as Prime Minister, I announced the Sagar Vision. Sagar means security and development for all in the region. Today Mauritius is at the center of this vision.

PM mentioned Bihar

PM Modi said that I also understand your emotional connection with Bihar. When many parts of the world were far away from education, a global institute like Nalanda was in Bihar. Our government has again revived Nalanda University and Nalanda spirit. Makhana of Bihar is very much discussed in India today. You will see that the day is not far when this Makhana of Bihar will be a part of the snack menu across the world.

I have brought the holy water of Maha Kumbh with me

In his address, the PM said that I know that many families of Mauritius have just returned from Maha Kumbh. The world is surprised that it was the biggest gathering in human history and people of Mauritius also came to it. But many of my family members of Mauritius could not reach this Maha Kumbh of unity despite wanting to.

I am aware of your feelings. That is why I have brought for you the holy water of the holy confluence and the same time of Maha Kumbh. This holy water will be offered in Ganga pond tomorrow.

OCI card to the PM of Mauritius and his wife

PM Modi said that it has been decided to give eligibility for Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card to the seventh generation of NRIs in Mauritius. I had the privilege of giving OCI card to the President of Mauritius and his wife. Similarly, I am happy to give the same honor to the Prime Minister of Mauritius and his wife.

Celebration of Ram temple in Mauritius

PM Modi also mentioned Ram temple in Mauritius. He said that when Pran Pratishtha was organized in Ayodhya. Our 500-year wait ended, a celebration like India was also seen in Mauritius. Remembered the 27-year-old visit

PM Modi said that in the year 1998, I got the opportunity to come here for the International Ramayana Conference. Then I was not even in any government post. I came here with the money of an ordinary worker. See the coincidence that Naveen ji was the Prime Minister at that time too. Now when I became the Prime Minister, Naveen ji came to Delhi to participate in my swearing-in ceremony. The faith and feeling towards Lord Ram and Ramayana that I felt years ago… I still experience it today.
