The Quality Report 2024 released by Swiss air quality technology company IQAir states that Delhi in India remains the most polluted capital globally. In the year 2024, India has become the 5th most polluted country in the world. In 2023, India was ranked third.

According to the report, India saw a 7 percent decline in PM 2.5 concentration in 2024, averaging 50.6 micrograms per cubic meter compared to 54.5 micrograms per cubic meter in 2023. Despite this, 6 of the 10 most polluted cities in the world are Indian cities.
