Holi is not played in these three villages of Uttarakhand, if abir-gulal is thrown then something untoward happens, know the reason

While the entire country is immersed in the celebration of Holi, there are three villages in Rudraprayag district where Holi has not been celebrated for years. The villagers attribute this to the wrath of divine power. If the villagers are to be believed, 150 years ago, when they dared to play Holi, a cholera epidemic spread in the village due to divine wrath. Due to the fear of which, even today the villagers of all the three villages remain deserted during Holi.

Kwili, Kurjhan and Jaundla villages, located in Tallanagpur Patti, about 20 km from the district headquarters, are believed to have been settled about 372 years ago. The villagers here believe that some priest families from Jammu and Kashmir had settled here with their patrons and farmers. These people then brought the idol and worship material of their favorite goddess Maa Tripura Sundari with them. Which was established in the village. Maa Tripura Sundari is considered to be the sister of Vaishno Devi. Villagers say that their Kuldevi does not like the chaos and colours of Holi, so they have not celebrated Holi festival for centuries.

Villagers say that when Holi was played in these villages 150 years ago, cholera spread here. Many people died due to the disease. Holi has not been played in the village since then. Villagers say that they feel like playing Holi, but they believe more in customs and traditions. Due to which they do not play Holi.

Villagers Sunita Devi and Kamala Devi say that everyone is following the tradition that has been going on since long. This festival has not been celebrated here for years. Now it has become a habit. No one has the courage to break the rules and regulations of the village.
