Earthquake jolts many places in Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, intensity 5.2

Earthquake tremors were felt in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on Friday. According to the National Center for Seismology, an earthquake of 5.2 magnitude hit Kargil in Ladakh on Friday morning, while tremors were also felt in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir. The earthquake here occurred at 2.50 am at a depth of 15 kilometers.
Both Leh and Ladakh fall in the country’s seismic zone-IV. That is, these areas are more risky in terms of earthquakes. Being located in the tectonically active Himalayan region, earthquake tremors are often felt in Leh and Ladakh.
Earthquake also hit Arunachal Pradesh
Earthquake tremors were also felt in Arunachal Pradesh at 6:01 am. The epicenter of the earthquake here was West Kameng and the intensity of the earthquake was measured at 4. The earthquake here came at a depth of 10 kilometers.
It is divided into 4 seismic zones according to the seismic zones. The most dangerous among these is seismic zone V, where earthquake tremors are often felt. Due to this, there is a constant risk of damage due to earthquake here. On the other hand, the areas falling in zone II have the lowest risk of earthquake. The country’s capital Delhi falls in seismic zone IV, so mild tremors of earthquake are usually felt here. Its effect is also seen in the surrounding areas.
