Maharashtra: Sex racket busted in Mumbai, police rescued three actresses; one person arrested

Police in Maharashtra’s Mumbai have busted a sex racket. Mumbai Police on Friday busted a prostitution racket in the city’s Powai area and rescued four struggling female actresses from a hotel, officials said. They said the Powai police took action based on a tip-off.

An official said that following specific information, the police laid a trap at the hotel and caught a man named Shyam Sundar Arora for pushing women into prostitution. Four female actresses were rescued, who are struggling to get work in films in Mumbai. He said one of the victims has worked in Hindi television serials.

A case has been registered against the accused person and his associate at the Powai police station under sections of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) and Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. He said the investigation into the case is ongoing.
