In February, the wholesale price inflation rate i.e. wholesale inflation rate rose to 2.38 percent. It was 2.31 percent in January. This information was given in the government data released on Monday. According to the government data released on Monday, the positive rate of inflation in February, 2025 is mainly due to the increase in the prices of manufacturing of food products, food items, other manufacturing, non-food items and textile manufacturing etc. In a survey, economists had estimated wholesale price inflation to be 2.36%.
Wholesale food inflation declined from 7.47% in January to 5.94% last month. Inflation of primary goods declined from 4.69 percent in January to 2.81 percent in February.
Meanwhile, wholesale prices of fuel and electricity declined by 0.71 percent last month, as against a decline of 2.78 percent in January. Prices of manufactured products increased by 2.86 percent in February, as against a rise of 2.51 percent in the previous month.
India’s retail inflation fell to a seven-month low of 3.61% in February from 4.31% in January, according to data released by the Centre earlier this month. The decline was mainly due to a drop in food prices, with food inflation—which accounts for nearly half of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) basket—falling to 3.75% in February from 5.97% in January.
Exports slow for fourth consecutive month in February
