Banks will remain closed for four days in Uttarakhand, complete your important work quickly

United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has announced a two-day strike on 24 and 25 March. Apart from this, banks will already be closed for two days due to 22 March being the fourth Saturday and 23 March being Sunday. In such a situation, bank customers will have to remain deprived of banking services for four days.
UFBU convenor and All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) president Indra Singh Rawat announced the strike during a press conference in Dehradun on Tuesday, 18 March. He said that nine major bank unions have decided to go on strike on 24 and 25 March.
Bank employees will protest for their main demands, which mainly include-
- Job Security: Ensuring job security of bank employees.
- Ban on Outsourcing: Outsourcing of temporary jobs in banks should be stopped.
- Adequate recruitment: Demand to recruit sufficient number of employees to provide satisfactory service to customers in bank branches.
- Five Day Banking: Demand to implement five days working in a week, as is done in RBI, insurance companies and government offices.
During the press conference, UFBU convenor Indra Singh Rawat said that public sector banks across the country provide services to millions of people daily. In such a situation, due to lack of employees, customers are not getting proper service. He told that for the last decade, adequate recruitment of employees is not being done in banks, due to which there is excessive workload on the existing staff.
Bank will remain closed for 2 days due to strike of employees
Rawat said that the demand for adequate recruitment in banks has been going on for a long time, but it is being ignored. He said that the workload in banks is increasing, while the number of employees is decreasing, which is affecting the quality of service. In such a situation, UFBU convenor and All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) have announced a strike.
Banking services will be suspended across the country on 24 and 25 March due to the strike of bank employees. Earlier, banks will already be closed on March 22 due to fourth Saturday and March 23 due to Sunday. In such a situation, banks will remain closed for a total of four days, due to which customers may face problems.
Due to the closure of banks, customers may face many problems-
- Problems in cash withdrawal: Due to the closure of banks, there may be a shortage of cash in ATMs.
- Delay in check clearance: Check clearance and other banking services may be disrupted due to four days holiday.
- Delay in loan and EMI transactions: Due to the strike, there may be a delay in loan processing, EMI payment etc.
- Increasing use of digital banking: Due to the closure of banking services, people will use digital payment services like UPI, internet banking and mobile banking more.
- During the strike, bank employees will protest about their various demands, which include-
Safety of bank officials and employees: Due to uncontrolled banking, employees have to face attacks or misbehavior from customers. Security should be provided to bank employees.
Government stake in IDBI: The union has demanded from the government that a minimum of 51% equity capital should be maintained in IDBI Bank, so that the control of the bank remains in government hands.
PSB director posts should be filled: Worker and officer director posts should be filled in public sector banks (PSBs), so that the voice of workers can also be heard at the management level.
Prohibition of unfair labor practices: Ensure compliance of labor laws in the banking sector and protect the interests of employees.
While the bank is closed, customers will have to use digital banking services. Customers can transact through means like UPI, mobile banking, internet banking, Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm. However, there will be a possibility of shortage of cash in ATMs, which may cause trouble to customers.

Banking services across the country will be completely affected due to the bank strike on March 24 and 25. Banks will remain closed for a total of four days due to March 22 being Saturday and March 23 being Sunday. During this time, customers will face problems in cash withdrawal, cheque clearance and other banking services. The bank union has announced this strike to put pressure on the government regarding their demands. Customers are advised to complete their important bank related work on time.
