If you also want to recover your wallet passphrase, then know that the passphrase of the Pi Network wallet can be recovered only if you have already set up Fingerprint ID, Face ID or any other biometric authentication on your mobile device. If you have not set this then it is not possible to get the passphrase back. In such a situation, you will have to generate a new wallet.
Steps to recover passphrase Pi Wallet Passphrase Key Recovery steps
- If you have set up Fingerprint ID, Face ID, or other biometrics in your mobile, then you can recover your passphrase by following these steps:-
- First open Pi Browser
- Then tap on Wallet option.
- Tap on Unlock With Fingerprint and open the wallet with your Fingerprint ID.
- If you have set up Face ID or any other biometric security, then you can use that too.
- Click on the Settings icon on the top right.
- Tap on Show next to “Show my passphrase”.
- Write down or copy your passphrase in a safe place and save it.
Note: Even if you have set up Fingerprint ID, Face ID or other biometric security. But it is important that you write down your passphrase and keep it in a safe place. If in future maintenance is done on Pi Wallet for any reason and biometrics do not work, then this written passphrase will be useful for you. Remember never to give your passphrase to anyone and do not enter it on any external website.
Can’t recover passphrase? Create a new wallet
If your passphrase is not recovered, then you will have to create a new wallet. Or even if you had not set up Fingerprint ID, Face ID or other biometrics beforehand, you will have to create a new wallet. You can create a new wallet by following the steps given below:-
- Open Pi Browser.
- Click on Wallet.
- Click on “You can create a new wallet”.
- Click on Generate New Wallet.
- Note down the 24 word passphrase for the new wallet and save it in a safe place.
- Confirm your new wallet and update it in the Mainnet Checklist.
- Sign Acknowledgement to Receive Tokens again.
Note: If you create a new wallet, you will not be able to access the Pi Coins in the old wallet. Information on how long this will last, whether it will be permanent or temporary is not currently available.
