Finally, Indian-origin American astronaut Sunita Williams (Nasa Astronauts Sunita Williams) and her partner Butch Wilmore have returned to Earth after a long mission of 9 months and 14 days. Along with them, two more members of Crew-9, Nick Hague of America and Alexander Gorbunov of Russia also returned safely from the International Space Station (ISS).
All the astronauts took off for return from ISS on March 18. Their Dragon spacecraft (spacex) landed in the sea off the coast of Florida at 3:27 am on March 19 as per Indian time.
Challenges faced during return Nasa Astronauts Sunita Williams Return to Earth
There were many challenges in this journey from space to earth. When the spacecraft was entering the Earth’s atmosphere. Then its temperature had reached 1650 degrees Celsius. During this time there was a communication blackout for about 7 minutes. That is, during this period the space agencies were completely cut off from the spacecraft.
17 hours long return journey
The spacecraft took a total of 17 hours to separate from the ISS and return to Earth. The hatch of the Dragon spacecraft was closed at 08:35 am on March 18. It successfully separated from the ISS at 10:35 am on the same day. The deorbit burn process was started at 2:41 am on March 19. In which the spacecraft’s engine was fired and its orbit was changed so that it could enter the Earth’s atmosphere.
On March 19 at 3:27 am, the spacecraft landed in the sea near the coast of Florida.

Sunita Williams’ 8-day mission became 9 months
Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore went to the International Space Station (ISS) in June 2024 as part of a NASA mission. They reached there via a spacecraft named Boeing Starliner. Their mission was only a few days long. But due to sudden technical problems, they could not return on time.
What will happen now?
These four astronauts will now have to undergo medical examination and rehabilitation by the recovery team to ensure that their bodies adjust properly to the Earth’s gravitational condition after a long space journey.
With this successful return, Sunita Williams has once again become a part of space history and her journey has opened the doors to new possibilities for space missions in the future.
