India made a leap in the happiness report, but still lags behind; this country remained on top for the eighth time

Our health is affected not only by our food habits and lifestyle, but also by our mood. That is why it is often said that it is important to be happy. World Happiness Day is celebrated every year on 20 March to explain the importance of happiness to people.

On this occasion, a list of the happiest countries around the world has been released recently. To prepare this list, the happiness prevailing in the countries of the world in charity, kindness and living together has been tested. In this, India has climbed eight places in happiness and has achieved 118th position in the world this year. Whereas America’s happiness has reached its lowest level till date and is at 24th position.

Which country is the happiest?

Finland has been the happiest country in the world for eight consecutive years. Whereas Denmark, Iceland and Sweden are among the four most happy countries. The latest report of ‘World Happiness Day’ states that India has improved its position by eight places from last year and has got 118th rank in the happiness index because our country has got 57th rank in terms of charity.

While some of India’s neighbouring countries like Nepal (92), Pakistan (109) have been ahead of India in the happiness rank. While Sri Lanka (133) and Bangladesh (134) are behind India in their ranking.

Is this country the most unhappy?

Afghanistan is the most unhappy country. Happiness in China has fallen by eight places to 68th rank whereas last year it was at 60th rank. Surprisingly, war-torn Palestine and Ukraine are ahead of India in happiness this year too. Palestine is ranked 108 and Ukraine is ranked 111. Along with this, the report says that in the list of 147 happy countries, America has not even been able to be included in the top twenty happiest countries.

This time its rank is 24, which is the lowest of all the years so far. It was at the 11th position in the year 2012. Britain is also at the 23rd position, one position above America. In the 2025 report of ‘World Happiness Day’, which is celebrated on 20 March, it has been told that Wellbeing Research Center and Oxford University have jointly prepared this report. The basis of happiness of the 147 countries included in it is not measured by wealth and cars and bungalows, but by the habit of people being helpful and sharing, the scale of which is cultural and institutional differences as well as charity, helping strangers etc.
