Bihar State Foundation Day was celebrated at Raj Bhavan on Saturday. On this occasion, senior officials of the government working here, including residents of Bihar living in Uttarakhand, participated in the Foundation Day program. On this occasion, Bihari Mahasabha presented other cultural programs including Chhath festival singing, Bhojpuri singing and Maithili songs based on the culture of Bihar.

On this occasion, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd) congratulated and wished all the people present on the State Foundation Day. He said that this day provides an opportunity to imbibe the rich history, cultural heritage, traditions and glorious heritage of Bihar. The Governor said that the state of Bihar has been the birthplace of great emperors, scholars and saints. Maurya, Gupta and Pala dynasties ruled on this land and enriched the Indian civilization. Nalanda and Vikramshila Universities played an important role in getting the title of Vishwaguru to ancient India.

The Governor said that the rich cultural heritage and folk traditions of Bihar strengthen the cultural fabric of the country. Chhath Puja is a symbol of folk faith of Bihar, which is celebrated with reverence and gaiety throughout the country. He said that the tradition of celebrating the foundation days of various states further strengthens the spirit of unity and cooperation among the states. He said that our diversity is our biggest strength. When we start knowing and respecting each other’s culture, traditions and heritage, then the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ is strengthened.
