The Rashtrapati Bhavan, i.e. Aashiyaana, located in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, will soon be opened to the general public. The special thing is that the state government and the district administration are now planning to strengthen the economy of the people through this Aashiyaana. This plan will not only increase the crowd of tourists here, but the local people will also get employment. At the same time, tourists visiting Mussoorie will also visit this Aashiyaana.

Dehradun is going to get another tourist point: Till now, people coming to Dehradun or Mussoorie used to visit Guchhupani, Buddha Temple, Sahastradhara, Dehradun Zoo or FRI and other places, but now tourists will also be able to visit the Rashtrapati Aashiyaana. Along with this, there will also be a world class park and other attractive things. Apart from the Rashtrapati Bhavan, people will get to see other things including visitor facility center, horse riding, amphitheater, art exhibition, cafeteria, souvenir store.

In fact, a state-of-the-art park is being built on 132 acres of land of the historic ‘Rashtrapati Aashiyana’ complex located on Rajpur Road. Which will be ready by 2026. President Draupadi Murmu will lay the foundation stone of this park on 20 June 2025. With this it will be opened to the general public. At the same time, the President’s Secretariat has approved the proposal of the district administration regarding this multi-theme public park. Under which it is proposed to open Rashtrapati Aashiyana and Upvan Vatika for the general public.

Employment will be available from Aashiyana

To open ‘Rashtrapati Aashiyana’ for the public in Dehradun, the officials from the President’s Secretariat have also completed all the formalities with consent in this direction. Along with opening the Aashiyana, the administration is also considering giving employment to the local people. If Dehradun DM Savin Bansal is to be believed, work is being done on the facility of bringing and taking tourists, food and drink facilities etc.

For this, talks are being held with nearby hotel, restaurant operators, e-rickshaw organization and all other stakeholders. Efforts are being made to create such a place in the middle of Dehradun, which will make the visiting tourist happy. Crowds of people should come to see the parks and other facilities here like Mussoorie. Many arrangements are being made to attract people of every class, be it children or adults.

What do people associated with local employment say?

Uttarakhand Taxi Maxi Mahasangh President Sundar Panwar says that it is proposed to open Rashtrapati Aashiyana for the public, which the Mahasangh welcomes. Opening of the park for the public will directly benefit the taxi, auto, bus, e-rickshaw operators of Uttarakhand. After the opening of Rashtrapati Aashiyana, people associated with this business are going to get a separate side scene point.

He said that the tourist coming here first lands at the railway station, Jolly Grant Airport or ISBT. After that, usually most tourists go towards Mussoorie via Rajpur Road. If the President’s residence located at the main point attracts tourists while coming and going from Rajpur Road, then it is natural that this destination will be called an attractive point for the tourists coming from Mussoorie.

The general public can give their suggestions

Here, work is being done towards developing the President’s residence and Upvan Vatika. Along with this, Dehradun DM is also continuously monitoring it to open the tourist attraction for the general public. The special thing is that the park here will be designed on the lines of London Hyde Park.

According to DM Savin Bansal, the park is a historic project for the people of Uttarakhand. In which all kinds of high quality facilities will be provided. For this, suggestions are also being taken from the general public. So that it can be made better. For this, a public feedback form has been made available on the website of Rashtrapati Bhavan. By filling this form, the public can give their suggestions for the construction of the park. You can fill the form till 6th April by clicking on this link https://rb.nic.in/ashiana.
