The condition of the accused in the murder of merchant navy employee Saurabh Rajput in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, deteriorated in jail on the very first night. Both the accused in the Meerut Saurabh murder case, Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla, are suffering from severe drug addiction. Both of them are refusing to eat food in jail. They are demanding marijuana, morphine injections. Sahil Shukla looked very restless without marijuana. At the same time, Muskan Rastogi demanded morphine injections in jail. Their restlessness is increasing due to drug addiction.
Both have been arrested in the Saurabh Rajput murder case. Both were produced in court and sent to jail. Both the 27-year-old accused are lodged in separate barracks for men and women in Meerut District Jail. A jail official said that Sahil and Muskan’s addiction is serious. He said that extra precautions have been taken to avoid any harm from them to themselves or others.
Murder was committed on March 4
Muskan, along with her lover Sahil, stabbed her husband Saurabh to death on March 4. After this, they cut Saurabh’s body into pieces. They hid it in a drum. After this, both of them filled the drum with cement. After committing the murder, the love couple tried to hide their identity.
Sahil and Muskan went to Himachal Pradesh after committing the murder. From there, they returned to Meerut on March 17. During their visit to Himachal, the love couple was reportedly in a ‘celebration’ mood. They were both playing Holi. Cutting cakes and getting photographs taken in the snow-covered area.
Accused in judicial custody
Muskan and Sahil were arrested and sent to jail in judicial custody. On the very first night of being in jail, Muskan’s health started deteriorating. Doctors said that she was a patient of severe drug addiction. Her treatment was started immediately. Meanwhile, Sahil also created a ruckus in the jail. He demanded that he be given marijuana and drugs.
Official sources said on Saturday that Sahil was very restless without marijuana. On the other hand, Muskan demanded injection of morphine. Officials also confirmed that both of them used to consume injected drugs regularly. Due to this, they are now facing serious trouble.
Care in De-addiction Center
The accused are being taken care of in the drug de-addiction center of Meerut Jail. Here both have been kept in the de-addiction center. The jail’s medical team is also constantly monitoring them. Sources said that amid the demand for drugs from Muskan and Sahil, both of them did not even eat food, which is a common symptom of de-addiction. He said that it may take at least ten days for both of them to recover.
