Uttarakhand: Even after transfer, the sub-inspector is not able to climb the mountain, the headquarters will ensure implementation of the Transfer Act

It is very difficult to send police officers to the mountains on the basis of transfer policy in Uttarakhand. This can be said by looking at the recent orders of IG Garhwal, in which police inspectors and sub-inspectors posted in plain districts for a long time were sent to the mountains. However, these orders do not seem to be followed 100 percent at the moment. In such a situation, intervention in the matter from the police headquarters level seems very necessary.

A serious case of non-compliance of orders of senior officials has come to light in the Uttarakhand Police Department. The matter is related to posting police officers posted in plain districts in hilly districts. In fact, recently the Inspector General of Police Garhwal office, citing the Annual Transfer Policy 2020, ordered the deployment of many police inspectors and sub-inspectors in hilly districts. The big thing is that the Senior Superintendents of Police of the districts were also instructed to relieve these policemen from duty by March 21, 2025. But despite this, 100 percent compliance could not be done on this by the due date.

On March 22, transfer orders of some police inspectors and sub-inspectors were issued at the level of Senior Superintendent of Police in Dehradun, in which the names of such police officers were also seen, who were earlier ordered to be sent to the hills by IG Garhwal Rajiv Swaroop. But instead of relieving them for the hill district, orders were given to give such policemen another posting in Dehradun district itself.

There are many police inspectors in Dehradun district, whose deployment time limit in the plain district was ending and after reviewing them, IG Garhwal Rajiv Swaroop had ordered to send such policemen to the hills. The surprising thing is that some were relieved by the SSP of Dehradun for deployment in the hill district, while there are some names who were given deployment in Dehradun itself. Now everyone has their own questions on what was the standard of pick and choose.

This matter of transfer of police personnel is of IG Garhwal office. Therefore, nothing much can be said on this. But if needed, the police headquarters will intervene in this matter and information will be sought on why the policemen sent to the hilly district were not relieved from duty.
