Hamas’s troubles increased, Egypt put pressure on it to accept the ceasefire agreement, threatened to expel Palestinians

Egypt has increased pressure on Hamas to accept Israel’s proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza. Egypt has threatened to expel Palestinians from its territory if the ceasefire deal is not accepted. Israeli website Jerusalem Post has made this claim quoting a senior official. According to the report, Egypt has threatened to expel those Hamas prisoners from its territory, who have recently been released by Israel. Egypt has given this threat so that Hamas adopts a flexible stance and accepts the revised proposal of the hostage agreement. Egypt has long played the role of mediator between Hamas and Israel.
The Palestinians whom Egypt has talked about expelling from its territory have been imprisoned in Israeli jails for a long time. These people have been released by the Israeli government in exchange for the release of Israeli hostages after the ceasefire in Gaza. After returning from Israel, they are temporarily living in Egypt. In such a situation, Egypt’s top intelligence officials are pressuring Hamas to accept the agreement. If this does not happen, then giving asylum to Palestinians in the country will be considered.
Pressure is being built at the behest of America!
According to Israeli officials, Donald Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff has put pressure on Egypt’s intelligence chief General Hassan Rashad in this regard. Witkoff expressed disappointment to Egypt that it has failed to convince Hamas to release additional hostages. Israeli-American Idan Alexander is also among these hostages. Egypt has increased pressure on Hamas after receiving a strong message from America.
After the pressure from America, Egyptian intelligence officials are trying to convince Hamas to agree to a new agreement. With this agreement, more hostages can be released and the war can be stopped for some time. On the other hand, Hamas is trying to stop the war permanently. It wants more facilities for Gaza in exchange for the release of hostages. The proposal includes a 50-day ceasefire and the release of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of five live hostages.
More than 50 thousand deaths in Gaza
The Gaza Health Ministry has reported that the number of Palestinians killed in the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas has crossed 50,000. Hamas’s Health Ministry said on Sunday that at least 50,021 people have been killed in the Palestinian territory since the war with Israel began in October 2023.
