There is now a new turn in the Russia and Ukraine war. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Rustam Umarov said on Tuesday (March 25, 2025) that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to stop attacking each other’s energy infrastructure. He gave this information by posting on Facebook.
Recently, US President Donald Trump spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone, in which both the countries (Russia-Ukraine) were asked to stop attacking each other’s energy infrastructure for 30 days. After this meeting, Zelensky also spoke to Trump over the phone.
Ceasefire in the Black Sea as well
According to the White House statement, after talks with the delegations of Ukraine and Russia in Saudi Arabia, the US expressed its commitment to impose sanctions. Apart from this, the White House has informed that Putin and Zelensky have now agreed to a ceasefire in the Black Sea. This agreement was reached after a video meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, in which the two leaders discussed ending the war in Ukraine.
America made a promise to Russia
The US also pledged to facilitate Russia’s access to global markets for agricultural and fertilizer exports, reduce marine insurance costs, and improve access to ports and payment systems for these transactions. The US delegation was led by National Security Council Senior Director Andrew Peak and State Department Senior Official Michael Anton.
The Russian delegation included Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the Federation Council’s International Affairs Committee, and Sergei Beseda, an adviser to Federal Security Service (FSB) Director Alexander Bortnikov. This dialogue was a major step in US President Trump’s attempt to broker a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia.
