Bus service will start soon between India and Nepal, AC buses will run from these two states; this will be the route

In order to give concrete shape to the plan to promote tourism by strengthening India-Nepal relations, an agreement has been reached to start bus service between the two countries. Air-conditioned (AC) bus service will soon start from Uttar Pradesh and Delhi to Kathmandu, Pokhara and other tourist places in Nepal.

The government had sought a proposal to start bus service from Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Lucknow and Delhi. The Transport Corporation Office, Gorakhpur has sent the proposal to Lucknow Headquarters. The buses will start operating as soon as it is approved.
The Transport Corporation has prepared a proposal to operate one AC bus each from Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Lucknow and Delhi. Nepal Transport Association will also run one bus each for these cities. A two by two seat AC Janrath bus will be operated between Gorakhpur and Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Buses will go to Nepal from Gorakhpur via Sonauli

Most of the buses going to Nepal will be operated via Sonauli via Gorakhpur Bus Station. Gorakhpur region will soon get 20 AC Janrath, Shatabdi and Volvo buses. The government has given its approval to the proposal of these buses. A proposal is ready to run one bus each for Kathmandu and Pokhara via Nepalganj Road from Gonda via Bahraich.

According to sources, apart from the government, Transport Corporation and the concerned officials, a meeting has also been held between Nepal Transport Associations, in which the Transport Association of Nepal has agreed to start the bus service. Preparations for the maintenance of the route and buses have almost been completed there.

The Transport Corporation is also in talks with the concerned departments and officials regarding the route, cleaning of buses, monitoring and fare. It is likely that the proposals of the Transport Corporation will be approved in April. The India-Nepal bus service will start as soon as the government gives the green signal.

The bus service was closed during the Covid period

The India-Nepal bus service running between Varanasi and Delhi to Kathmandu via Gorakhpur gradually stopped after the Covid period. Last year, Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation and Nepal Transport Association had planned to start bus service between Gorakhpur and Kathmandu.

After consensus, Janrath bus was ready in Gorakhpur, which was also issued permit by the headquarters Lucknow, but due to technical flaws, the bus service could not be started. Now the government has started preparations to start bus service between India and Nepal.

Regional Manager of Transport Corporation, Luv Kumar Singh said that a proposal was sought to start AC bus service between Gorakhpur and Kathmandu and Pokhara. Gorakhpur Regional Office has sent the proposal to the headquarters Lucknow. Further process will be started on the instructions of the government. With the start of India-Nepal bus service, movement between the two countries will become easy.
