IIIT student in Lucknow was raped and forced to abort; taken to Nainital for a trip; stayed in a hotel; gave medicine mixed in juice
An IIIT student has been raped in Lucknow. The accused physically exploited the victim several times on the pretext of marriage. PGI police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. The victim has been pursuing PhD from the Mechanical Department in Jabalpur since August 2021. In 2022, she became friends with Abhinav Srivastava, a resident of Sultanpur, through Instagram.
When the student missed her train, she asked Abhinav for help. Both exchanged mobile numbers. After some time, Abhinav proposed to the student to go on a Nainital trip with one of his friends and his wife. Initially, the student refused, but after repeated requests, she agreed.
Abhinav booked all the tickets for the trip. When the student reached Lucknow, Abhinav took her from the station to Himalaya Enclave Apartment in PGI. There he closed the door of the flat and raped her. When the victim started crying, the accused promised to marry her.

On the night of July 9, 2023, we returned to Lucknow from Nainital. I stayed with Abhinav in his flat till 16 July 2023. Then I returned from Lucknow to Jabalpur. After this, I went to Lucknow to meet Abhinav a couple of times. There we had a physical relationship.
In November 2023, I came to know that I am pregnant. When I told Abhinav about this, he asked me to get an abortion. When I refused, he said- You come to Lucknow, we will talk. I will introduce you to my parents. We will get married.
I went to Lucknow on his call. He again tried to convince me to get an abortion. I did not agree. When I asked him about marriage and insisted to get married, he assured me that he loves me very much. He will marry me.
Got the matter typed in a paper. Signed it. After this I went to my home. By mistake, the new phone gifted by his parents was left with me. Which I was going to return but Abhinav called me and said nonsense and said- You have shown your caste. You have stolen my phone. He started refusing to marry me using casteist words. When I threatened to report him, he agreed to marry me.
He came to meet me in Jabalpur in October 2023. We went to visit Bhedaghat here. At that time, when I talked about marriage, he said – I am trying to convince my parents. Then on asking repeatedly, he started evading, sometimes saying that my parents are not agreeing. Sometimes he said that my parents are asking for dowry of 50 lakh rupees. Had physical relations in the hotel
In Nainital, Abhinav forced the student to stay in his hotel room by making an excuse of a fight between his friend and his wife. There he forcibly had physical relations with the victim. She says that when she used to call the young man and ask about marriage, he would get upset and abuse her and threaten to kill her.

MP police transferred the case to UP police. The student had filed a case in Khamaria police station of Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh). But since the case is of PGI police station in Lucknow, the police transferred the case from MP to UP. Inspector PGI Dhirendra Kumar Singh says that the transfer case is being investigated. The investigation of the case is ongoing.
