Successful organization of ‘Innovation Leadership Development Program’ at IIT Roorkee, taught skills of problem solving

The ‘Innovation Leadership Development Program’ was organized at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee from 22 to 26 March 2025 under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Program. Teachers from centrally funded institutions, state public universities and private higher education institutions across the country participated in the program.

Teachers trained in leadership skills
The aim of the five-day program was to make teachers adept at institutional leadership, collective decision making, shared governance, problem solving and promoting innovation. Teachers were trained on various aspects related to leadership through workshops, management sessions and expert dialogues. Many experienced academicians and experts expressed their views in the program. These included Deepak Kumar, Secretary, Program Implementation, Sanskrit Education and Census, Government of Uttarakhand, Prof. K. K. Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee, Prof. H. C. Pokhriyal, Senior Academician, Shri S. P. Dobhal, Director, Institute of Technology Management (ITM).

Important topics were discussed
In the program, many important topics like mental health and role of teachers, innovation leadership and creative design thinking and team building for developed India 2047 were discussed. The objective of the program was to develop leadership skills in teachers as well as motivate them to organize such training programs in their institutions.
