Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat went on an inspection of Nainital on Tuesday. During this, the commissioner walked about 7 km and inspected the development works going on in various areas of the city. He took information about the development works from the officers and contractors of the concerned departments and also gave necessary guidelines.

Visit of Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat

Divisional Commissioner Deepak Rawat inspected the development works and beautification works going on in Nainital. During this, Deepak Rawat instructed the construction agency and contractors to speed up the development works. Deepak Rawat visited with the officials of various departments and inspected the works. During this, he reached Tallital and took information from the officials of the Irrigation Department about the water level of Naini Lake.

Report sought on the falling water level of Naini Lake

Chief Engineer Irrigation said that due to less than normal rainfall in winter this year, the water level of the lake has decreased slightly. On this, Divisional Commissioner Deepak Rawat instructed the officials of the Irrigation Department to talk to the NIH agency and submit a report. Also, he asked to conduct a scientific investigation and provide a survey report so that dredging work can be done manually in the month of April.

The commissioner inspected by walking 7 kms

It was told that 6 water sources (drains) come from the mountains to Naini Lake. The Divisional Commissioner also instructed the Irrigation Department to prepare a proposal for their regular cleaning and other works. Deepak Rawat said that funds will be provided from the Development Authority to get this work done. During the inspection, the Kumaon Commissioner walked about 7 kms and visited from Tallital to Mallital, Naina Devi, Pashan Devi, Phansi Gadhera.

Instruction to remove building material lying on the roadside

The Divisional Commissioner instructed the Executive Officer of the Nagar Palika to remove the government and private building material lying at various places on the roadside within 15 days. He also instructed the Executive Officer of the Nagar Palika to remove the old sign boards installed uncontrollably at various places. He said that the beauty of the city should not be spoiled. He instructed to clean the city regularly and take action against those who litter in public places and run it as a campaign.

Inspected the landslide affected area Mall Road

After the major landslide in the year 2018 in Mall Road of Nainital, he did a field inspection of the damaged Mall Road. During this, he took information about the repair of the road from the Superintending Engineer of PWD. The Superintending Engineer said that an amount of Rs 3 crore 49 lakh has been received for the treatment work in 40 meters length in Mall Road. Also, road repair work is in progress. The Divisional Commissioner asked to do the road repair work before the tourist season.

Taken stock of the work of Manaskhand Mandir Mala

Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat inspected the beautification work being done by the Public Works Department at a cost of Rs 11 crore 1 lakh released by the government for the beautification of Naina Devi temple etc. to promote religious tourism under Manaskhand Mandir Mala and took information. He directed to complete the works within two months. During this, it was told that 16 new shops have also been built under the said work. The Commissioner directed the concerned to transfer the shops immediately.

Development work seen in landslide affected area Thandi Sadak

Divisional Commissioner Deepak Rawat inspected the Thandi Sadak damaged during the landslide in Nainital in 2020. During this, he inquired about the progress of the treatment work of the hill being done by the Irrigation Department near the Pashan Devi Temple at a cost of Rs 9 crore. While inspecting the work being done by the Municipal Corporation, he directed to improve the street lights in the Thandi Sadak area. During this, he directed to better maintain the view point built by the Tourism Department and the Police Department to patrol the Thandi Sadak area from time to time. Commissioner Deepak Rawat also inspected the plant installed to check the aeration process of the lake etc. and took necessary information.
