Uttarakhand: Mahila Congress gheraoed CM’s residence, protested against increasing crimes against women

Mahila Congress today staged a strong protest against the government in the capital Dehradun. Congress gheraoed the CM residence over the increasing crimes against women. The workers of Mahila Congress gathered from across the state raised slogans against the government and raised questions on law and order.

State President of Mahila Congress Jyoti Rautela said that the incidents of rape and crime against women are increasing continuously in the state, but the government and administration have turned a blind eye. Let us tell you that Mahila Congress also staged this protest on issues like unemployment, land law and live-in relationship. However, the police stopped the Mahila Congress by putting up barricades before they could reach the CM residence. During this, a heated argument was also seen between the police and the Congress workers.

State President of Congress Karan Mahara has also supported this movement of Mahila Congress. He said that Mahila Congress is playing the role of opposition very well. Referring to the Ankita Bhandari murder case and the Ghasiyari Yojana cases, he said that the government is avoiding answering on serious issues like corruption and women harassment. The step taken by the Congress to gherao the CM residence over these issues is completely justified.
