‘Notice to Kunal Kamra and silence on Rahul Solapurkar’, Uddhav raised questions on the attitude of the government

a
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) chief Uddhav Thackeray has questioned the government’s attitude amid the uproar over the stand-up comedian. He said, ‘The government summoned Kunal Kamra for insulting ‘traitors’, but remained silent on actor Rahul Solapurkar who insulted Shivaji Maharaj.’
Speaking to reporters a day after the budget session of the state legislature ended, he also targeted the BJP’s outreach program ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ for Muslim families. Uddhav said, ‘You summon Kunal Kamra twice for insulting a traitor, but do not call Rahul Solapurkar even once.’
Kunal Kamra had targeted Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in the parody song. However, Kamra did not name Shinde. Shiv Sainiks became furious as soon as the controversial statement came to light. On Sunday, a studio in Mumbai was attacked by Shinde supporters. A case has been registered against Kamra for the controversial statement. Now Mumbai Police has summoned him.
What is Solapurkar’s case?
Solapurkar recently came under criticism after saying in a podcast that 17th century Maratha warrior Shivaji Maharaj escaped from Agra Fort by bribing Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s officials. He rejected the popular fact that Shivaji managed to escape from Aurangzeb’s clutches by hiding himself in a basket of sweets. Some organizations objected to the word ‘bribe’ regarding this.
Uddhav’s taunt on ‘Saugat-e-Modi’
Talking about the ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ initiative, Uddhav Thackeray said, ‘When Shiv Sena got huge support from Muslim voters, noise was made saying that I have abandoned Hindutva. They also coined words like ‘power-jihad’, but now the same people have changed their stance.
