Uttarakhand: Important news for government employees, change in Transfer Policy; Now there will be bumper transfers

In the transfer session 2025-26, the limit of 10 to 15 percent being done till now for compulsory transfer in the state has been abolished. Departments will be able to transfer on the basis of posts available with them in the new session.
This recommendation was made in a meeting held under the Transfer Policy under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Radha Raturi regarding the cases of Section-27. This will be the first time after the implementation of the transfer policy, when no limit of personnel will be fixed for transfer. Transfer cases related to the Education Department were also discussed in the meeting. Now these recommendations will be sent to the Chief Minister’s Office.
Transfer Policy-2017 is effective for the annual transfer of personnel in the state. According to the provision of this policy, transfers are made every year from accessible to inaccessible and from accessible to inaccessible places in the state. It has been arranged in the policy that as many posts are vacant in the accessible, the same number of personnel will be kept in the inaccessible in relation to these posts.
It has a provision for the transfer of personnel posted at the same place in the accessible area for more than five years. Similarly, there is a provision to transfer the personnel posted in remote areas to accessible areas after five years of service.
It was told in the meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary that after the implementation of the transfer policy, the limit of transfer was kept at 10-10 percent in the first two years. After this, this limit remained 15-15 percent in the last three years. So far, 65 percent transfers have been done in the departments and 35 percent transfers are yet to be done.
In such a situation, now the restriction of transfer of personnel in a fixed percentage is being removed. It was agreed in the meeting that there will be no restriction on the limit of annual transfer in the new session. Departments will be able to transfer according to the posts available with them.
