Preparations were on to distribute hundreds of quintals of bad and inferior rice among the poor in Uttarakhand, but before that DM Savin Bansal conducted a raid and exposed the whole matter. The DM got the rice stored in the warehouse sampled, in which hundreds of quintals of rice were found to be bad. Now preparations are on to suspend the responsible officers. At the same time, action can be taken against the Senior Marketing Officer (SMO) and Assistant Review Officer (ARO) in this case.
Samples of 2,200 quintals of rice failed: It is worth noting that on March 26, Dehradun District Magistrate Savin Bansal had conducted a surprise inspection of the food warehouse located in Gularghati. Many flaws were found during the inspection. The next day, i.e. on March 27, ADM Jai Bharat raided the warehouse with the administrative team. Where sampling of rice kept for distribution to the Anganwadi centers and the poor of Garhwal Mandal was done. Out of the rice samples, samples of 12 lots (about 2,200 quintals of rice) failed.
Hundreds of quintals of bad rice were bought and kept in the godown: Meanwhile, the investigation revealed that the whole game was done in collusion between the food department and rice mills. According to the investigating officers, the purchase of rice is done by the food department. The food department bought broken, old and black rice from the rice mill at cheap prices. Not only this, the black rice was bought after polishing it. After buying hundreds of quintals of bad rice, it was stored in the godown.
Preparations to distribute rice that failed in quality among the public: These rice that failed in quality were to be distributed among the poor in different districts. After the entire disclosure, questions are being raised that why was bad rice purchased from the mill? The investigation revealed that after buying poor quality rice from the mill at cheap prices, it was being sent for distribution among the public.
DM Bansal gave instructions to stop salary and take departmental action: Currently, DM Savin Bansal has given instructions to SMO and ARO for adverse entry, stop salary and take departmental action. The administrative team has also instructed to make arrangements for storing and marketing food grains on the basis of first in first out in the warehouse. So that, food grains can be marketed with quality from the warehouse.
Two days have passed since the administration’s action on the food warehouse. Now a detailed report will be prepared on how many samples failed? What should have been there and was not found, at what level was negligence committed? A report of this entire matter will be prepared and submitted to the DM, only after that action will be taken. – Jai Bharat, ADM, Dehradun
