Uttarakhand: Forest department on alert to save forests from fire, issued helpline number

As soon as summer begins in Uttarakhand, incidents of forest fires start and forests start burning, dealing with which is considered the biggest challenge for the forest department. This year the forest department has completed its preparations to deal with this situation. Regarding which, the head of the forest department, Chief Forest Conservator (Hof) Dhananjay Mohan held a press conference on Saturday.
Forest department released helpline
Chief Forest Conservator Dhananjay Mohan said that the Forest Fire Mobile App has been developed with the aim of strengthening the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) at the headquarters level and the information, warning and management system in the state. With the help of this app, complaints related to human-wildlife conflict, forest fire, illegal felling, encroachment, poaching in the states will also be registered through ICCC. For this, the Forest Department has also issued Integrated Helpline Number 1926.
This year has received the least number of alerts in the last 3 years
Through the Forest Fire Uttarakhand mobile app and integrated helpline number, everyone will be able to register their complaints related to forest fires, human-wildlife conflicts, illegal felling, encroachment and poaching. Hoff said that a study of the data of fire alerts received by FSI in the last 3 years has found that this year the least number of fire alerts have been received in the last 3 years.
Pirul is being purchased at Rs 10 per kg
Along with this, Uttarakhand is ranked 15th in the list of near real time fire alerts by FSI from 1 November 2024 to 26 March 2025 for all the states of the country. To directly involve local people in pine pirul collection work to control forest fires in the state and to increase livelihood, the government has revised the previously fixed rate of Rs 3 per kg to Rs 10 per kg. The Forest Conservator informed that in view of the incidents of forest fires, an MoU has also been signed with the Meteorological Department to establish weather forecasting centres in the highly sensitive and sensitive forest areas of the state.
