Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry has strongly criticized the visit of Bangladesh interim government chief Mohammad Yunus to China. In fact, Yunus had also described Taiwan as a part of China during a conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Taiwan reacted sharply to this and advised Mohammad Yunus to avoid lying and spreading confusion. Taiwan has said that it is an independent country and has never been a part of China.

What did the spokesperson of Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry say, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) strongly denounces the joint statement issued by Bangladesh interim government chief advisor Muhammad Yunus during his visit to Beijing from 27 to 29 March and his meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on 28 March, in which both sides made false claims of following the so-called “one-China principle” and expressed the misconception that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China.” Taiwan gave advice to Yunus
The Foreign Ministry affirmed that the Republic of China (Taiwan) is a sovereign and independent state and is not subordinate to the People’s Republic of China (China). Any distortion of Taiwan’s sovereignty status cannot change the internationally recognized cross-strait status quo. Our government will firmly defend it. Safeguarding our country’s sovereignty and dignity, and safeguarding the values of democracy and freedom, as well as working together with friendly countries with similar ideals for regional peace, stability and development.
Taiwan shows mirror to Bangladesh
The Foreign Ministry said that it calls on the Bangladeshi side to strengthen Taiwan-Bangladesh economic and trade cooperation and solid relations in various fields with a pragmatic and open attitude and make positive contributions to promoting democracy, peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. Bangladesh has not yet maintained any kind of relationship with Taiwan due to fear of China.
