After the train hijacking in Pakistan, the army has intensified the cycle of repression against the Baloch people. Firing is being done on the Balochs who are protesting non-violently. The people who protest are being detained without giving any reason. It is still not known in which jail Dr. Mehrang Baloch, who emerged as the leader of the Balochs, has been kept. People’s anger erupted on Monday on Eid against this repression. Protests were held at many places in Pakistan demanding the release of the leaders of the Baloch human rights group, Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC). People came out on the streets in many places including Chagai, Nokundi, Tump, Surab and Mastung in Balochistan and raised slogans against the Pakistan government.

Thousands of people came out on the streets, did not celebrate Eid

BYC, which is leading the movement of the Baloch people, said that thousands of people came to the demonstration held at a place called Tump and refused to celebrate the festival of Eid, registering their protest against the oppression. Thousands of men and women marched on the streets and raised their voice against the illegal detention of BYC leaders. They refused to celebrate Eid and demanded the release of those detained and justice.

Slogans raised against the Pakistan government

Like Trump, thousands of Balochs took to the streets in Washuk and protested on Eid demanding the release of the arrested Baloch leaders. People were carrying placards and banners in their hands. Slogans were written against the Pakistan government. Men, women and children were all involved in the several kilometer long march. People said that this is the movement of every Balochi and no repression can suppress this struggle for justice and freedom.

The movement cannot be crushed – BYC

In Buleda area too, the Balochs raised their voice against the Pakistan government by taking out a big rally. The people involved in the protest demanded the immediate release of the BYC leadership and all the protesters detained. Sharing a post on X, BYC wrote, ‘From Dhadar to Dalbandin, Buleda to Khuzdar, the resistance movement is getting stronger. The repressive policies of the government cannot suppress the voice of Balochistan! No to repression, no to the atrocities of Pakistan! BYC is a movement of every Baloch – it cannot be crushed!’

Freedom movement has been going on since 1948

Human rights groups have also condemned the arrest of BYC leaders who are raising their voice for the rights of the people in Balochistan. They have accused the Pakistan government of suppressing dissent and trying to curb the political activities of Baloch activists. Let us tell you that Balochistan is the largest province of Pakistan. It is 44 percent of the total area of Pakistan but the population there is only 6 percent. Pakistan forcibly occupied this state in 1948. Since then the people there have been fighting for their independence against Pakistan.
