People are scared by the earthquake in Nepal, the earth shook in North India too

Earthquake tremors were felt in Nepal late Friday evening. Its intensity was measured at 5 on the Richter scale. As soon as the tremors were felt, people started running out of their homes. Not only in Nepal, but people also felt mild tremors of the earthquake in North India.
Let us tell you that just a few days ago, an earthquake of more than 7 magnitude hit Myanmar. There was a lot of loss of life and property in this. Thousands of people lost their lives in this earthquake and many buildings were damaged.
Two tremors in three minutes
Officials said that two consecutive earthquakes occurred in western Nepal on Friday evening, with a gap of just three minutes between them. According to the National Earthquake Monitoring Center, the first tremor was of 5.2 magnitude, which was recorded in Jajarkot district at 8:07 pm local time, followed by a powerful earthquake of 5.5 magnitude at 8:10 pm.
The epicenter of both the earthquakes was in Panik area of Jajarkot district, about 525 km west of Kathmandu. The tremors were felt in neighbouring districts including Surkhet, Dailekh and Kalikot in western Nepal. Despite the intensity of the quake, there were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage.
Located in a seismically active zone, Nepal is frequently hit by earthquakes. An alert has been issued in the region, with officials monitoring any tremors or possible structural damage in the affected areas.
How do earthquakes happen?
Earthquakes can be caused by natural phenomena or anthropogenic causes. Earthquakes are often triggered by geological faults. Massive gas migration, mainly methane deep within the Earth, volcanoes, landslides, and nuclear testing are the main such faults.
Earthquakes are recorded with a seismometer, also called a seismograph. The moment magnitude of an earthquake is traditionally measured or the related and obsolete Richter magnitude is taken. Earthquakes of magnitude 3 or less are often imperceptible and earthquakes of magnitude 7 cause severe damage over large areas. The intensity of the tremors is measured on the developed Mercali scale.
What to do if you get stuck in the rubble?
If you get stuck in an emergency situation during an earthquake, for example if you are stuck in the rubble or in a multi-storey building, then you should work with a calm mind. In such a situation, panicking can make you take some wrong decisions which can prove fatal for you.
If you are stuck in the rubble, then you should avoid moving. Do not even blow dust in this situation. If there is a wall or a pipe around you, then you should hit it with your hand so that the rescue team can reach you as soon as possible by considering it as a signal.
