After this decision of the government, the local people protested. After which Chief Minister Dhami has decided not to change the name of Mianwala.

On Saturday, the local people of Mianwala met the Chief Minister under the leadership of former Mandi Committee Chairman Kuldeep Butola. In the meeting, CM Dhami assured the local people that public sentiments will be kept in mind. After which CM Dhami has instructed the officials not to change the name. However, a formal announcement is yet to come from the government regarding this.
