Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara has apologized after his comment on the sexual harassment incident. He said, ‘I am a person who is always concerned about the safety of women. If any woman has been hurt by my words, then I express regret and apologize.’
G Parameshwara said that his statement was misunderstood and it was further distorted. Actually, in a viral video of Bengaluru, a young man was seen going to two girls on the road and touching them inappropriately and then running away. The video is from BTM Layout area of Bengaluru. The incident is of April 3.
After which, on being asked about the investigation, G Parameshwara had said – such incidents keep happening in big cities like Bengaluru. Regarding this video, BJP criticized the state Home Minister and demanded his resignation.
BJP national spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala said, ‘Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra should break their silence and demand resignation from God.’
Draupadi’s insult in Mahabharata was ignored, this is also the same
On Monday, Poonawala had alleged that God always insults women with his words. BJP leader Poonawala said, ‘The Karnataka Congress leader trivialized the incident that shocked the country, especially the women of the state. This shows a shocking, patriarchal, sexist and disgusting mindset.’
The BJP spokesperson claimed that crimes against women have increased by 50 percent in the Congress-ruled state. Citing the example of Mahabharata, he said that the insult of Draupadi was ignored considering it a minor incident. However, later it led to the war between the Pandavas and the Kauravas. This incident is also being ignored considering it minor.
Poonawala also questioned Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s slogan “I am a girl, I can fight”. He said, ‘This is just a “hollow show and slogan. Insulting women is the identity of Congress.’ He also referred to the controversial word Rashtrapatni used by Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary for President Draupadi Murmu. However, Ranjan Chaudhary later apologized for his comment.
