A big case of fraud has come to light in Haldwani of Nainital district. It is alleged that the fraudster trapped the victim by claiming himself to be close to the government and administration and then cheated him of Rs 35 lakh in the name of getting a mining lease. The police have registered a case on the complaint of the victim and started investigating the matter.
Girish Bisht, a resident of Adarsh Colony Subhash Nagar of Haldwani Kotwali area, has given a complaint to the police. He told in his complaint that he got acquainted with a person resident of Lamachaur city. The said person claimed to have a good hold in the government and administration and promised to get the mining lease.
It is alleged that during this time the accused deposited Rs 15 lakh in cash in the account of a company in Udham Singh Nagar on 17 October 2023, while taking Rs 20 lakh in cash, promised to get the mining lease soon. It is alleged that the accused kept deceiving the victim Girish Bisht for a long time that he would definitely get him the mining lease. However, later the victim realized that he had been cheated.
It is alleged that after this, when the victim asked for his money back, the accused threatened to kill him. The victim says that he has complained about this fraud to the Kumaon Commissioner, DIG and IG. The victim alleged in the complaint that the accused person is now threatening him, due to which his life is in danger. The victim has demanded the police to get his 35 lakh rupees back.
In this entire case, Senior Sub Inspector Rohitash Sagar of Haldwani Kotwali said that a case has been registered under Section 420 and 506 on the complaint of the victim. The entire matter is being investigated. Further action will be taken only after investigation.
Three youths arrested with weapons in Haridwar
In the Khanpur police station area of Haridwar district, the police was checking the vehicles coming and going from Muzaffarnagar in UP. Then the police noticed three people riding a bike, whom the police stopped. When the police searched the three youths, they found two country-made pistols, two live cartridges and a sword.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed their crime and said that they carry pistols and swords with them to spread terror in the area and establish their dominance. The police registered a case against them and started further action.
