Uttarakhand: Ban on opening new liquor shops in the state, CM Dhami gave instructions after receiving complaints

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan to ban the opening of new liquor shops in the state for the time being. The Chief Minister had received complaints regarding the opening of new liquor shops. On this, he has directed the Chief Secretary to take action.

Let us tell you that under the new excise policy, the government has already banned liquor shops around religious places. The Chief Minister had also directed that liquor shops should not be opened around educational institutions and religious places.

According to sources, objections have been lodged before the District Magistrates against the opening of new liquor shops. Due to these objections, the Chief Secretary has issued instructions to reconsider the process of allotment of new shops. All District Magistrates have been asked to take action in this regard.
