Uttarakhand Congress appeared united in Gujarat convention, big leaders were seen together, BJP targeted them

The two-day 84th session of Congress concluded in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. About 27 AICC (All India Congress Committee) members from Uttarakhand Congress participated in the session. After the Congress Working Committee meeting, the senior leaders of Uttarakhand Congress showed their credibility by taking photos with each other and gave a message of unity.
Uttarakhand Congress leaders have shared the photo of the Congress session on social media. In the photo, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, party state president Karan Mahara, Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya, former state president Pritam Singh, former state president Ganesh Godiyal, AICC national secretary Qazi Nizamuddin are seen smiling together. After such a picture surfaced, it seems that everything is going to be fine in Uttarakhand Congress. There are chances of factionalism ending in the Congress organization. People are also making various comments about this picture.
Karan Mahara has shared this photo from his social media account. People are making all kinds of comments about this. Harish Singh writes that ‘We swear in the name of Ram. We will never fight among ourselves and will not spare our opponents’. Another social media user wrote that, ‘Start factionalism again after the convention’.
However, only time will tell whether the factionalism going on in Uttarakhand Congress will end after the convention. But BJP has targeted the pictures of the big leaders of Uttarakhand Congress together from the convention.
BJP state spokesperson Kamlesh Raman said that, At least one such picture of Uttarakhand Congress leaders was seen, in which all the big leaders are seen together. But the question arises that the way there is a competition among the Congress leaders to get ahead of each other in Uttarakhand politics. Will the Congress leaders leave Ahmedabad and leave that trend? The truth is that the leaders of Uttarakhand Congress are seen only pretending to be united with their national president Mallikarjun Khadke and Rahul Gandhi.
Meanwhile, the state spokesperson of the Congress party, Sheeshpal Bisht, says that, Congress always keeps showing its unity. Denying factionalism in the party, he said that senior leaders of the state were present in the recent meeting of the Political Affairs Committee. He said that all the senior leaders of the party have been united in the protests organized by the party. But the photo of BJP leaders together is never seen. He said that whenever the Congress party sees the BJP united, then the BJP starts getting nervous.
Factionalism in Congress became the reason for defeat: The Congress party came to power in the state in the 2012 assembly elections. But in 2016, there was a big split in the Congress and 9 rebel MLAs joined the BJP. After that three more leaders left the party. In the 2017 assembly elections, the Congress party had to be satisfied with only 11 seats and the party had to face defeat. Congress had to face defeat in the 2018 civic elections. Lok Sabha elections were held in 2019. In that too, the Congress party lost all five seats in the state. In the 2022 assembly elections, the Congress improved its previous performance and won 19 assembly seats.
In 2024, the Congress party won the Mangalore and Badrinath by-elections. Even though the Congress lost the Kedarnath by-election in 2024, its vote bank increased. Similarly, in the 2025 civic elections, the Congress could not hoist its flag in 10 municipal bodies. But it won a big victory by capturing 33 seats in most of the Nagar Palikas and Nagar Panchayats.
