Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting in the Secretariat last Friday regarding the preparations for the Nanda Raj Jat Yatra. Chief Minister Dhami said that Nanda Raj Jat Yatra is the heritage of Uttarakhand. The CM directed the officials to do extensive publicity of the Yatra in the country and abroad. The CM said that Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra will be reached all over the world through Indian embassies, as well as they should be motivated to join this journey. The CM said that through this journey, Uttarakhand has to be given a historical form by connecting it with foreign countries as well.

Culture of Uttarakhand will be seen in Nanda Rajjat ​​Yatra

The CM said that the Nanda Rajjat ​​Yatra should reflect the culture, tradition, costumes, musical instruments of Uttarakhand. For this, the CM directed the Culture Department to prepare an action plan. He said that the department should make such arrangements for folk artists so that they get continuous payment. The CM asked the local public representatives and officials to hold a meeting with the stakeholders related to the Yatra and include their suggestions in the action plan. So that the journey is conducted in a better way.

There will be no network problem in the Nanda Rajjat ​​Yatra route

CM Dhami said that the route of the Yatra is in the high Himalayan region and sensitive. SOP should be made for better crowd management in the Yatra, disaster management from environmental point of view, ban on single-used plastic. Along with the Yatra route, identification and improvement of alternative routes, small parking in populated villages, drinking water, toilets, eco tent colony, beautification of Gad-Gadero, electricity should be ensured.. Also, better network arrangements should be ensured in the Yatra route.

The CM also directed to identify temporary and permanent works on the Yatra route and get government approval for permanent structures within a month and start the work. Along with this, the CM directed the Disaster Department to identify the landslide prone areas as well as deploy sufficient number of JCBs, Pokland as well as operators on the route as per the requirement. Let us tell you that this time Nanda Rajjat ​​Yatra will start from Nandastami of Bhadra Paksha in 2026. It is a 280 km journey of about 20 days in which 20 km is on foot. This is the journey from Maa Nanda’s maternal home to in-laws’ house, which is from Kasuva located near Nauti to Homkund.
