The Imam of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has surprised everyone by making a big statement on the Waqf Board Bill, over which the Muslims of India have created a ruckus in the country. Governing Member of the Global Imam Council (GIC) Mohammad Tawhidi has given a big advice to the Indian Muslims while speaking about the Waqf Board. Mohammad Tawhidi has accepted that the Waqf Board should be monitored by the government. Not only this, he said that the Waqf Board is not only relevant for Muslims, but also for other religions including Hindus and humanity.
UAE’s Waqf Board a role model for Indian Muslims
Mohammad Tawhidi said, “I believe that Waqf Boards should focus on serving Islam, Muslims, society and humanity, as we have done in UAE. First of all, it should follow the law with a positive attitude on how religious communities can work and serve society. He said that in UAE, Waqf Boards are professional entities. They are legal in their position in society, they are highly respected and, of course, they manage various parts within the Muslim religious structure of the country. I believe that the Waqf Boards we have in UAE are role models for Waqf Boards in Muslim countries and Muslim societies in countries like India.
Waqf Board is not just for Muslims, but also for temples, churches – Tawhidi
Advising Indian Muslims, Tawhidi said that UAE has been a role model for Muslims beyond UAE in the region in all its fields and aspects of religious outlook. Waqf Board Not just for Muslims, it is also for temples, churches and other places of worship. They are all embraced and protected under the law. They are served and looked after by the government. So it is one thing to keep an eye on it, but there is no special treatment. Everyone has to follow the law,” he said.
