Uttarakhand: Action on fee hike, notice sent to these reputed schools for arbitrariness

After the uproar over fee hike and purchase of books and copies in many private schools of Dehradun, the district administration has now come into action. The administration has so far issued notices to two schools and ordered to summon the principal of the third institution.

Action on fee hike

In fact, with the beginning of the new academic session, some schools in Dehradun had increased the fees by more than 50%. Parents were upset since the school fee hike. After which they approached the District Magistrate with their complaint. When the complaints were investigated, it came to light that many big private schools of the city are increasing the fees arbitrarily without any solid reason.

If arbitrariness is not stopped, the school licenses will be canceled

The parents also alleged that they were being pressured by the school to buy books, dresses and copies only from the shop mentioned by the school. Dehradun District Magistrate Savin Bansal has taken action on the complaints. The DM has made it clear that if the arbitrariness of private schools is not stopped, the school licenses will be canceled.

Notice sent to these schools of Dehradun

On the instructions of DM, CDO Abhinav Shah had asked St. Joseph Academy, Pioneer, Sant Kabir Academy, Flower Dale and Mount Literaji School to present their side. After the order of the administration, no response came from Flower Dale and Mount Literaji, on which a final notice has been given to both. At the same time, Sant Kabir Academy also did not send its competent officer for the hearing. Now the principal of the school has been summoned to the CDO office on April 15.
