Uttarakhand: Children’s fees increase every year, teachers’ salaries are cut, this is the condition of private schools

a
Private schools in Uttarakhand are once again in the news. Sometimes for the increased fees charged to parents, sometimes for unnecessary charges and sometimes for the salaries paid to teachers. Let us tell you that in the schools where lakhs of children are charged money for so many things every other day, when it comes to the teachers of the same schools, the picture is completely opposite.
The truth is different from the claims of the school management
Parents are often told that schools increase fees because the salaries of teachers are also increased every year. But the ground reality is far from this. Even today, teachers and employees in hundreds of private schools in the state are forced to work on very low salaries. The interesting thing is that the government has already issued a clear order on this.
Orders of officials are being disregarded
It is worth noting that on 26 June 2007, the then Education Secretary DK Kotia had directed that the ICSE and CBSE schools of the state will have to pay salaries and allowances to teachers and employees at the same level as the government pays in aided schools. But even today this order is gathering dust in the files of the education department.
The school management decides the salary of teachers according to its own discretion
In 2018, CBSE had made it clear in chapter-5 of its affiliation bylaws that private schools will have to pay their staff as per the standards set by the government. Even after this order, most school managements decide the salary of teachers according to their own discretion. In which there is neither any transparency nor any fixed policy.
