Dengue has started spreading in Uttarakhand. A dengue patient has also died in the state. According to the information received from the Health Department, 18 cases of dengue have been reported in the state so far, in which dengue is currently active in 6 patients.
Out of the 18 cases of dengue reported in the state, 12 cases have been reported from Dehradun district alone. The remaining 6 cases are from other districts. Dehradun CMO Dr. Manoj Sharma said that a person suffering from dengue has died. However, it cannot be said right now whether the patient died due to dengue or due to some other reason.
He said that all hospitals have been instructed to keep beds reserved for patients. If there is an increase in dengue cases in the future, then hospitals have been asked to make provision for increasing the capacity. Proper arrangements for mosquito nets and mosquito repellents have also been asked to be made on every bed. Mosquito nets have also been asked to be put on every bed so that mosquitoes do not bite the infected person.
Apart from this, all the hospitals have also been asked to keep adequate stock of IV fluid and necessary medicines used for the treatment of dengue patients. If any suspected case of dengue is found in the hospital, then in this situation, facilities of rapid card testing and ELISA test have been asked to be made available in adequate quantity.
He told that this time dengue cases have come up quite early. However, the health department had started its preparations from last month. The district administration has been asked to make volunteers available in the month of May itself. To prevent dengue and make people aware, the District Magistrate of Dehradun is going to hold a big meeting with all the officials on April 19. Along with this, all preparations are being made by the health department at its level.
