The pending pension of the elderly will be started soon in Delhi. Government’s Social Welfare Minister Ravindra Indraraj Singh held a review meeting with the officials of the Social Welfare Department on Saturday (April 19) regarding the old age pension scheme. In the meeting, the progress of the scheme, the status of pending applications and the process of adding new beneficiaries were discussed in detail.
Social Welfare Minister Ravindra Indraraj Singh directed that such applications on which objections have been registered or whose pension has been returned due to some reason, should be disposed of quickly and on priority basis. He also clarified that the third party verification of beneficiaries and the role of Common Service Center (CSC) should be made effective so that the beneficiaries do not have to run around unnecessarily.
‘Feedback should be taken from the beneficiaries’
Minister Ravindra Indraraj Singh directed the officials that the bank accounts of the beneficiaries should be linked to all the necessary documents, so that the payment of pension under DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) can be ensured without any hassle. Also, feedback should be taken from the beneficiaries from time to time. It was told in the meeting that at this time more than 4 lakh senior citizens are getting the benefit of old age pension scheme from the central and state government in Delhi and soon more and more citizens will be added.
Applications were closed in 2017
Let us tell you that under the old age pension scheme in the Aam Aadmi Party government, new applications were closed since the year 2017, which was closed in November 2024 just before the assembly elections, the AAP government had announced to add 80,000 new beneficiaries and new applications were opened, but in today’s meeting, the Social Welfare Minister has ordered to take a decision on the new applications soon so that the senior citizens of Delhi can get pension soon.
