Transport Ministry gave this answer
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has completely rejected all such news being circulated. The ministry has described such news as false and misleading. The ministry said in its statement that no decision has been taken yet to implement the satellite tolling system by removing the FASTag system across the country from May 1, 2025. The ministry has termed such news as misleading. Which simply means that the FASTag system will remain in force.
How did this news go viral?
Actually, the government is considering bringing a new technology in the coming days. So that the time spent stopping at the toll can be saved. The government is working on testing a new technology. The name of this new technology is ANPR-FASTag based barrier-less tolling system.
Let us tell you that the full name of ANPR is Automatic Number Plate Recognition i.e. a technology that can recognize the number plate of the vehicle. This system will be linked with the current fastag. After its linking, vehicles will not have to stop at the toll plaza.
Where will this new system be installed?
Let us inform you that the government has currently invited tenders to install this system at some selected toll plazas. Based on its successful working and the response of the people, a decision will be taken whether to implement it across the country or not. It is believed that if the driver does not cooperate in this system and makes a mistake in toll payment, then he will be sent an e-notice. Apart from this, the fasttag can also be blocked.
